The Mayor will be hosting open office hours this week, at Cai's Cafe, 420 Main St.
Wednesday, February 12, between 10:00am and noon.
No appointment necessary.
Monday 2/17/2020 is Presidents Day and Borough Hall and Departments are closed.
There will be NO garbage or recycling pick-up on Monday. If your normal day for pick-up is Monday, your garbage and recycling will be picked up on Tuesday. If your regular pick-up is Tuesday, your garbage and recycling will be picked up on Wednesday this week.
DURHAM AVENUE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Middlesex Water Company is nearing completion of the installation of its large diameter 4.5 mile-long supplementary water transmission main project on Durham Ave in Metuchen.

Installation of the new water main will resume on Tuesday night 2/18 on Durham Avenue. The contractor anticipates working nights the remainder of the week at which time Durham Avenue will be closed (except for local traffic) between Central Avenue and Jersey Avenue. Night work goes from 8pm - 6am.

Elizabethtown Gas Pipeline Replacement Project
Starting on 10/30/19 Elizabethtown Gas will be replacing and upgrading natural gas infrastructure in the following areas of Metuchen:
E and W Cedar St, Herold Pl, Hickory St, Juniper St, McPherson Ave, Sheridan Ave, S. Main St
The work will include:
• Replacing aging gas mains with new, durable plastic pipe
• Relocating gas meters from inside homes and businesses to outside and replacing service lines from the gas main in the street to the building or house
The work will be performed by Skoda Contracting Company and the project will be completed by mid-February, 2020. Residents in the affected areas have been notified. Work will be done between the hours of 7:30am and 4pm Monday through Friday. There will be traffic detours and re-routing during construction, but Main St will remain open.
