MEMBERSHIP DEFINITIONS
RESIDENT FAMILY – Adult couple or 1 or 2 legal guardians, plus unmarried children (under 21 as of 5/1/11 or under 26 as of 5/1/11 and a full-time student) who reside in the same Metuchen resident.
RESIDENT FAMILY PLUS – Same as above plus one additional person who resides with the family (grandparent, aunt, uncle, au pair, etc.)
RESIDENT INDIVIDUAL – Metuchen resident 10 years of age or older.
RESIDENT SENIOR CITIZEN – Metuchen resident 62 years of age or older.
NON-RESIDENT FAMILY – Same as Resident Family residing outside of Metuchen.
NON-RESIDENT FAMILY PLUS – Same as a Resident Family Plus residing outside of Metuchen.
NON-RESIDENT INDIVIDUAL – Non-resident 10 years of age or older.
NON-RESIDENT SENIOR CITIZEN – Non-resident 62 years of age or older.
POOL SEASON AND HOURS
The Pool will be open weekends starting Saturday, May 28, 2011 and full time Friday, June 24, 2011 or the day after school ends. If you have any questions please call the Pool Office at 732-632-8517.

Effective June 24, the baby pool opens at 10 AM every day except Wednesday and Sunday.
If the pool is closed for inclement weather after 6:00pm, it will not reopen that day. Swim team meets are normally held Wednesdays from 5-8pm and Saturdays from 8-11am until the first week of August. Please Note: The Diving Section and 25 yard section of the pool are closed some evenings for Team Meets.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
The following rules and regulations are designed to assure safe and sanitary operations of the Metuchen Municipal Pool and to comply with the State of New Jersey regulations for public swimming pools. Members and their guests must observe the rules. Parents are requested to emphasize to their children the importance of observing the rules and heeding the instruction of pool personnel.
APPROPRIATE BATHING ATTIRE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL MEMBERS AND GUESTS.
- The primary task of lifeguards and pool managers is to provide for the safety and comfort of members using the pool. PLEASE DO NOT TALK TO LIFEGUARDS WHILE THEY ARE ON DUTY. Lifeguard stations, the gate office and manager’s office are restricted to authorized personnel only.
In case of an emergency, notify the nearest lifeguard and follow their instructions. Lifeguards on duty have the authority to prohibit activities which, in their judgment, may be dangerous or interfere with other members enjoyment of the pool and its facilities.
- The wading pool is limited to children 5 years old and under. All Children in the wading pool must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
- Any person having a communicable disease, open blisters or cuts, sore or inflamed eyes, ears, nose or mouth infections, excessive sunburn or any type of skin disease will be excluded from the pool area. The Pool Manager has the authority to keep any person with a visible skin disease out of the water. A doctor’s certificate of permission must be obtained by anyone seeking admission who does not agree with the Manager’s decision.
- No person is permitted within the pool enclosure except during the regular pool hours or for scheduled activities. Violators of this rule are subject to immediate loss of membership privileges for the season and to possible prosecution.
- No person shall enter the main pool or the Kiddie pool unless there is a lifeguard on duty.for that section of the pool.
- Before entering the pool, all persons shall take a cleansing shower.
- Children under ten (10) years of age will not be admitted unless accompanied by a responsible member,16 years or older. Non-swimmers are not permitted in the main pool unless they can stand in that section of the pool with their head fully above water.
- All bathers, including babies, must wear bathing suits in both the main pool and the wading pool. Babies must wear rubber pants in both the main pool and wading pool. This a State Health Law.
- Eyeglasses/sunglasses with glass lenses are not permitted in the pool at any time. Plastic lens eyeglasses and sunglasses with a safety strap may be worn in the pool.
- Animals shall not be permitted within the pool enclosure. Guide dogs for the blind will be admitted to the pool area, but shall not enter either pool and must be leashed.
- Food is restricted to the main pavilion and picnic area only. Drinks in non-glass covered containers are permitted on the lawn areas. No food or drinks are permitted on the main or baby pool aprons.
- Diving is permitted only in the designated area. No diving is permitted from the sides of the pool except during swimming meets and team practice sessions:
a. Only one person at a time shall be permitted on a diving board and ladder.
b. Divers shall not dive until the previous diver has reached the exit ladder.
c. Diving shall not be permitted from the side of the diving boards.
d. Excessive bouncing on boards is prohibited.
e. No diving shall be permitted from the side of the diving well.
f. Swimmers, other than divers, shall not be permitted in the diving well.
g. Running dives from the deck are prohibited.
h. Retrieving objects from the bottom of the diving well is prohibited without the
authorization of the lifeguard on duty.
- All members must follow all posted guidelines for use of the slide.
- Unnecessary spouting of water, roughness, rowdyism or other conduct affecting the safety or comfort of others shall not be permitted. Running in the pool area is strictly prohibited.
- No toys, rubber balls, inner tubes or artificial aids, including mask, fins and floatation devices of any kind shall be permitted in the main pool. Aids for use by lap swimmers in the lap lane or by patrons with disabilities may be used at the discretion of and with prior approval of the pool manager.
- Bicycles must be locked in racks outside the pool area at the owner’s risk.
- No fires for any purpose are permitted on pool property.
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the pool enclosure. There is a designated smoking area in the parking lot.
- Gambling and consumption/possession of alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the pool property. Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs shall be refused admission.
- The Board of Commissioners or its management shall have the right to close the pool or restrict its use whenever the safety or health of participants is endangered.
- At the discretion of the manager on duty, ten minutes in every hour may be reserved for adult swimming only. All children must vacate the pool during adult swims.
- No solicitation or commercial activity of any kind is permitted in the area without the prior written authorization of the Board of Commissioners.
- All children under 5 years shall be supervised by an adult at all times; such adult will not leave the child unattended at any time.
- Toys are permitted in the wading pool at the discretion of the manager on duty. Managers and lifeguards are authorized to prohibit toys which, in their judgment, pose potential safety hazards or interfere with others enjoyment of the pool.
- Children 10 years old can be admitted without adult supervision if they have passed a swimming test given by a MMP Lifeguard and ID cards are marked as a swimmer.
- Children over the age of 5 must use the bathroom designated for their sex. If a parent of the opposite sex must accompany the child, they may use the Family bathrooms.
- Each member 1 year or older will be issued a photo ID card which must be presented to the gate attendant for admittance. The ID card must have current validation.
- A lost or damaged card must be reported immediately to the pool office at Borough Hall. Upon payment of $5.00, a new card will be issued.
- Membership cards are non-transferable. Anyone transferring a card will lose their membership for the remainder of the season and there will be no refund of any part of the membership fee.
- No loitering at the front gate.
- No guest will be admitted without being accompanied by a sponsoring member at all times. The member shall be responsible for the conduct of their guest and their guest’s compliance with the pool rules & regulations. Members must surrender their membership card when their guests are admitted and the card may be confiscated by MMP should the guests violate MMP rules.

DEFINITIONS
- Age – The individual’s age on May 1st of the season.
- Pool Apron Area – The fifteen (15) food wide area of concrete immediately surrounding the main pool and the concrete pad surrounding the wading area.
- Pool Area – The entire fenced area surrounding the pool.
- Area – The total area in (2) and (3), plus the entire parking area as provided in the plans and specifications of the swimming pool.
- Child – Anyone between 1 & 17 years of age
- Adult – Anyone eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Senior Citizen – Anyone 62 years of age or older
FINES AND PENALTIES
Any person or persons who shall violate any adult posted rule or regulation of the Board of Commissioners shall be subject to immediate ejection from the pool area. The Board of Commissioners reserves the right to revoke any membership for dangerous acts, improper conduct or severe or repeated violations of the rules and regulations. Any person or persons who shall destroy or damage Pool property through gross carelessness or willful misconduct may be held financially liable for such destruction or damage as may be determined by a Court of Law.
