The Borough of Metuchen was awarded a grant as part of the 2014 Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program for their Crosswalk Improvements project. SRTS provides funding to communities to improve walking and bicycling conditions to schools Metuchen’s project involves the installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFB) and crosswalk improvements including ramp upgrades per Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines at the following intersections:
- Grove Avenue and Christol Street
- Main Street (CR 531) and High Street
- Main Street (CR 531) and Brunswick Avenue
- Central Avenue (CR 531) and Liberty Street
- Route 27 (Middlesex Avenue) and Oak Street
The Borough will be holding a Public Information Session on 10/18/17 at 7:00 PM at the Metuchen Senior Center, 15 Center St. to present Preliminary Plans for the Metuchen Crosswalk Improvements project to the public for questions and comments. The public is encouraged to attend.

The Metuchen Girls Youth Basketball League is designed for Metuchen girls who are in grades 1st through 8th. The purpose of this league is to have fun and learn the basic fundamental basketball skills, like dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding & playing defense. Registration Deadline Clinic (1st – 6th grade): November 17th. Registration Deadline for 7th – 8th grade: December 1st. The fee for the season is $60

DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife says you should report bear damage, nuisance behavior or aggressive bears to their Wildlife Control Unit at (908) 735-8793. During evenings and weekends, residents should call the local police department or the DEP Hotline at 877-WARN-DEP (877927-6337).
