Records Bureau

The records bureau is responsible for managing all police documents and records generated by the police department. These records are managed and maintained in accordance with the standards set forth by the State of New Jersey. The records bureau also provides Discovery requests for attorneys as well as responds to Open Public Records Act (OPRA) requests. Some of the records managed by the Police Department are:
- Police investigation reports
- Arrest reports
- Motor vehicle crash reports
- Alarm registrations
- Expunged records
The public may obtain reports by request from the Records Bureau Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. These reports will be made available in a form compliant with the Open Public Records Act and Common Law.
The fee schedule for copies of reports is as follows:
$.05 per page for 8 ½ x 11 copies
$.07 per page for 8 ½ x 14 copies
Fees may be paid using cash, check or money order payable to the “Borough of Metuchen”. Most reports are available after seven (7) working days, excluding weekends and holidays. No information regarding police reports will be provided by telephone.
