FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Baron Munchausen at the Metuchen Library, January 29
On Sunday, January 29 at 2 PM at the Metuchen Public Library, the Teen Advisory Board kicks off their 2012 Film Festival celebrating the films of director Terry Gilliam! In The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Gilliam puts a fantastical spin on the stories of the 18th-century German aristocrat who claimed he'd journeyed to the moon, been swallowed by a sea monster, and performed other improbable feats. John Neville stars as Munchausen, the teller of tall tales, alongside Eric Idle, Jonathan Pryce, Sarah Polley and Uma Thurman. The film received several Oscar nods -- including best art direction for its astounding visuals. The film is rated PG and all ages are welcome. Refreshments will be served; paid for by the Friends of the Metuchen Public Library.
Free Combo ACT/SAT Practice Test at the Metuchen Library, February 17
On Friday, February 17 at 12:30 PM, Kaplan Test Prep will offer a free SAT/ACT Combo Practice Test at the Metuchen Public Library, 480 Middlesex Avenue. The 3.5 hour Combo Practice Test helps students decide which test is right for them. Students will receive scores and feedback via email that compares their performance on each of the analogous test sections of the two exams---for example, SAT math section vs. ACT math section. This is a perfect opportunity to experience both tests, now that most colleges accept either exam for admissions.
To sign up for the Friday, February 17 Combo test, please write Young Adult Librarian Kathy Liss at KLiss@Lmxac.org or call the Library on 732.632.8526. Space is limited. Registration is open now to Metuchen residents only in grades 9, 10 and 11, but it will open to interested others on February 6.
