The mission of the Metuchen Public Library is to provide service, primarily to residents of Metuchen, and through the County library automation program, to qualified non-residents. To fulfill this mission, the Metuchen Public Library facilitates access to informational, recreational and cultural materials in its own collection, any shared resources and referrals to other collections.
Primary services of the library include maintaining and expanding the collection of books and periodicals to support the general needs and interests of the community, within the limits of the financial resources available; providing reference and information services to community residents who require or need this service; encouraging the use of the library and its resources; and developing services that provide access to non-print and electronic resources.
Secondary services of the library include maintaining and expanding non-print collections and conducting programs that reach out to various segments of the community. (Adopted by the Board of Trustees - May 9, 1990).
There will be a special meeting of the Metuchen Public Library Board of Trustees on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 7:00 PM for the purpose of discussing personnel items related to the hiring of a new library director. The meeting will be held in the Basement Meeting Room of the Metuchen Public Library.
