Program Description

MEtv is dedicated to providing Metuchen residents with a variety of programs that are specific to Metuchen and New Jersey as well as informational programs from many other producing organizations. Each Quarter MEtv will make alterations to our program line up as new programs become available. Please contact us about the program series you would like us to continue to air.

MEETINGS  
Council Meeting:  Metuchen Borough Council meets twice monthly and air live the first and third Mondays of each month. These programs reair three times.
Monday 9:00am & 7:30pm, Wednesday 9:00am & 7:30pm
Board of Ed Meeting: Metuchen Board of Education meets twice monthly and air live the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. These programs reair three times.
Tuesday/Thursday 9:00am & 8:00pm
Middlesex Board of Chosen Freeholder Taped on-location in New Brunswick by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and are aired in their entirety.

LOCAL EVENTS  
Your Town: This series covers major events happening in Metuchen and sponsored by the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce and the Metuchen Recreation Department. These include The Country Fair, Memorial Day and Holiday Parades, Memorial Day Observance, Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, Cruise Night, Earth Day, June Bug, Spring Egg Hunt, Fishin Derby, Pumpkin Carving and more. The series is hosted by Susan Griffin and other guest hosts from the MEtv Production Team.

Local Programs This consists of programs sponsored by local businesses, the police and fire departments, and various religions and civic organizations.

Local Concert The Cultural Arts Commission sponsors many concerts throughout the year.

Metuchen Matters: A new series hosted by Mayor Tom Vahalla that focus on the services Metuchen provides to residents and discussion on important issues facing the community. The series is moderated by Betsy Robin Schwartz.

COUNTY  
Spotlight on Middlesex County: This monthly series is produced by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders featuring various departments of the county and their programs.

Access New Jersey Find out what's happening around the state! Access New Jersey is a collaborative effort by the members of the Jersey Access Group, a consortium of local access TV stations. Each half-hour show features four or five short segments from stations across the state -- on entertainment, history, the arts, health, and more.

SENIORS  
Aging Today in Middlesex County: This half-hour monthly program, produced by the Middlesex County Department on Aging, focuses on the services, resources, and activities of interest to senior citizens in the county.

Educational News that Parents Can Use: A series about ways to ensure children's educational success.

University Speakers: From the University Channel provides programs of academic lectures and events from all university community available to the public. It is a place where academics can air their ideas and present research in a full-length, uncut format. The UChannel project is an initiative of Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

Perils for Pedestrians: A monthly television series promoting awareness of issues affecting the safety of people who walk and bicycle.  The shows host John Wetmore interviews advocates and government planners about problems such as missing sidewalks and crosswalks, dangerous intersections, speeding traffic, and obstacles to wheelchair users and people with disabilities; and solutions to such problems.

Money Matters: Investment ideas to educate the general public are presented plus up-to-date information on business dealings in today's economy.  Information is provided from experts in the financial field and specific businesses.

HISTORY  
How Proudly They Serve: A series consisting of interviews with veterans from all the services from World War II through the current conflicts. Charles Reilly, himself a veteran Korean War medical officer, produces and moderates the program series.

On the History Trail This series offers an Indiana Jones-esque tour of local historical attractions.

HEALTH  
Look Great Feel Great: This popular half-hour exercise program features aerobic and stretching exercises, as well as dance and other special topics, such as yoga and the martial arts.

Public Health Matters: Sponsored by the Middle-Brook Regional Health Commission, the program brings reliable information about important public health issues directly to the residents as well as present relevant topics which impact the public on state and national levels and raise the general awareness of the many roles played by local public health professionals.

Road to Recovery This program raises awareness of recovery and increase accessibility to treatment. In addition, the show will highlight the positive and affirming message that addiction is treatable and recovery is possible.  Hosted by Ivette Torres, Associate Director for Consumer Affairs, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

CMS and You: This program offers the most up to date information on navigating the health care system focusing on Medicare, Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP); accessing hospital, doctor, nursing home, and home health services; your costs – annual deductibles, co-payments, co-insurances; your rights and protections and how to stay healthy.

INFORMATION  
At Home with Pegi: This program features an assortment of "how-to" segments on gardening, home decorating, cooking and pet care, by author, columnist and radio show host, Pegi Ballister-Howells.

Sharing Miracles: A 30-minute public affairs television program that tells the compelling and inspirational stories of real patients in the search for answers and help for the diseases that are affecting their lives.

Third EyeShow: This show intention is to purposefully observe spirit; empower personal growth and happiness; teach peace; inspire free expression and creativity; celebrate diversity; and activate thought, reflection, and positive exchange.

Army Newswatch: Under the auspices of the Dept. of the Army’s Soldiers Media Center, SRTV covers the total Army and produces this television program that keeps both the soldiers and the public informed.

Outside the Box: A Link TV production, offers a refreshingly unconventional approach to the investigation and analysis of America's most critical issues.  Host Peter Coyote takes on the role of a "citizen journalist," working together with the Outside the Box production team to bring complex issues into the public discourse.

YOUTH  
King Henry: A children's program, produced at the Staten Island Community Television station is an old time kids show full of clowns and magicians, jokes and tricks.

Peekaboo Turtle: A story time program for pre-schoolers produced by Woodbridge Township Television in conjunction with the Woodbridge Public Library. It features stories, songs, easy to do crafts, and action rhymes that are attuned to a child's developmental needs.

YA Visions: A show for young adults by young adults 13-18 years of age. It is a magazine format series with segments that include discussion about favorite band, books and music, interviews with professionals in various fields are about their chosen, and discussions lead by Dr. DiSimone-Weiss, Phd., about issues of importance like: illegal downloading from the Internet, dress codes in school, and body image/self image.

Rockstar Stories: A television program written, edited, filmed and directed by college and high school students. The show is well known in the music community for interviews with emerging artists, most of whom have gone on to become huge stars.

Fist full of Popcorn: This is a talk show discussion group providing their opinions on recently released movies.

Sudzin Country: You can expect to hear a wide variety of Country Music from yesterday and today with some Bluegrass and country Rock mixed in to spice up the blend. Friday 9am, Saturday 5pm
Edison on Stage The aim of this program is to inform the residents of Edison and the surrounding communities of the theatre productions being offered in their area by professional companies, community theatres, colleges, and senior high schools.

From the Vault: This series presents rarely seen motion picture features from the US and abroad presented uninterrupted in their full length. For the most part these are public domain films from the first sixty years of this powerful and popular art form.

Sports Knights: Provides a comprehensive look at the world of Rutgers sports. Not only does it provide you with updated information on your own Scarlet Knights but it allows you to get a glimpse of sports and athletic clubs and organizations around the university.
